Architecturally-Inspired Summer Camps at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple :: Grades 3-5 :: Enrollment Still Open!
Printmaking Magic :: July 13-17 :: 9am-12pm :: $160 UTRF members /$175 non-members With the colors, textures, and light of Frank Lloyd Wright’s UnityTemple as inspiration, students will explore the magical methods of printing monotypes. Campers will be encouraged to “see differently,” applying their visual experience along with a variety of techniques to produce multi-colored, one-of-a-kind works of art. At the end of the week, each student will take home a portfolio of prints. The camp will be led by artist and printmaker David Jansheski.Space is limited to 15; registration is required.
Art Glass, Nature & Wright:: July 20-24 :: 9am-12pm :: $145/$155 Frank Lloyd Wright's famous art glass windows flood his buildings with natural light. Campers will explore the art glass at UnityTemple and other Oak Park landmarks, learn how art glass is made, and take part in a restoration demonstration led by an art glass expert. With nature as inspiration, campers will create their own art glass window designs in translucent Mylar--and expand their knowledge of architecture, geometry, art and history. Space is limited to 15; registration is required.
City of the Future:: July 27-31 :: 9am-12pm :: $145/$155 What will Oak Park be like in 100 years? How will we live, work and play? How will the choices we make today impact our future? With guidance from a professional urban planner and a historic preservationist, campers will use their imaginations to design and build their own model city block out of recycled materials. If possible, we’ll take a field trip to the ChicagoCenter for Green Technology for a tour. Space is limited to 15; registration is required.
